At NC Tooth Docs Orthodontics & Kids Dentistry, we offer our patients some of the most advanced dental technology in Huntersville, Charlotte, Concord, and surrounding communities, including digital x-rays, iTero, laser dentistry, and more. Modern dentistry helps reduce radiation exposure, enhance patient comfort, and cut down on treatment time and office visits.
Our goal is to always provide a fun and comfortable patient experience, especially for our youngest patients when establishing a positive dental experience is crucial. In addition to incorporating the most advanced treatment technologies, we also have created a state-of-the-art office environment. Equipped with ceiling TVs and headphones, our pediatric dentistry chairs are designed to keep your child comfortable and engaged during their appointments. We also understand the busy schedules of our patients, so all communication and reminders are digital to keep you on track for all appointments.
iTero Element
The iTero Element is an innovative 3D imaging used in orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, crowns, and dental implants. The technique enables a quick, precise digital scan of the teeth and soft tissues and a simulated image of the same teeth after orthodontic treatment. The data created from iTero can assist with the production of your traditional braces or with Invisalign® clear aligners.
After taking digital x-rays, our dentist will use a compact laser wand to create an accurate digital impression of your teeth and gums. The technique can be useful to create a quick scan after a dental emergency or prepare for a root canal, permanent crown, or dental implant.
The iTero Element is much more comfortable for the patient than old-style plaster molds.
AcceleDent Aura
Many orthodontic patients wonder if there’s a way to shorten treatment time. AcceleDent is a breakthrough orthodontic accessory that can reduce a braces treatment period by up to 50%.
The braces or aligners apply pressure to the teeth, gradually causing them to change position. AcceleDent enhances this long process, promoting faster tooth alignment in patients who use the device for 20 minutes every day.
The AcceleDent is a lightweight, removable accessory that comprises a mouthpiece connected to an activator. It uses the SoftPulse technology to releases gentle micro-pulses that facilitate tooth movement and promote bone remodeling.
Propel
Propel is an innovative device that can speed up orthodontic treatment. It performs minimally invasive micro-osteoperforations in the bone that holds tooth sockets between the patient’s teeth. These tiny dimples or holes accelerate tooth movement through the bone and improve bone regrowth.
Here is how a Propel procedure works:
- Using an x-ray, the dentist will determine the exact location and size of the gaps between the patient’s teeth
- The dentist will make a minuscule perforation using Propel
- The dentist will repeat the procedure for every tooth that will need to realign during the treatment. Each tooth may need up to three micro-perforations on either side.
The process usually includes local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort. Propel is a safe, clinically proven procedure with zero downtime. It can reduce both braces and Invisalign treatment time by up to 60% percent.
Diode Laser Treatment
Diode laser treatment is an important tool in soft oral tissue surgery, dental hygiene, and dental restorations. Orthodontists often use diode laser treatment to remove excess gum tissue for both functional and aesthetic purposes.
Specifically, diode laser treatment can:
- Remove excess gum tissue when a tooth emerges too slowly to expose enough surface for a bracket
- Help an impacted tooth emerge without a traumatic surgical procedure to the surrounding areas
- Recontour the gum line to expose more tooth surface and enhance the patient’s smile, especially in an uneven gum line.
Gumline recontouring usually takes place after a patient completes orthodontic treatment.
TADs
TADs, or temporary anchorage devices, are biocompatible titanium anchors that facilitate tooth movement in orthodontic treatments. TADs work in sync with orthodontic braces.
TAD placement requires local anesthesia. After taking x-rays to ensure proper placement, our orthodontist will quickly insert the TAD through the gum and into the jawbone. At the end of the treatment, the orthodontist will remove the TAD with equal speed, minimizing any discomfort. An over-the-counter painkiller like Tylenol is usually enough to cope with any temporary pain or discomfort after the procedure.
NC Tooth Docs Orthodontics and Kids Dentistry is an orthodontal and dental office where every patient is a VIP. Our Huntersville dentists and the rest of our staff focus on providing attentive, empathetic, and personalized care combined with advanced digital technology, x-rays, and far less radiation than conventional methods.
We aspire to help our patients attain a more beautiful smile and better overall oral health through our dental services.
Digital X-Rays
Our office uses digital x-rays, which means it is basically like taking a photograph of the teeth and jaws. Our digital x-ray machine uses far less radiation than a traditional x-ray machine and is more comfortable for our patients. With digital x-rays, the entire process takes only a couple of minutes to complete and the images are sent directly to our computers. The images from these x-rays are of much higher quality, allowing our doctors to make more accurate decisions about your oral health.
